Mobile Search

Six of the best sites for mobile search applications — software or services that help you find stuff via your cell phone. Know of another site that should be listed here? Leave your suggestion at the bottom of this page.

1. Google Mobile - World’s most popular search engine formatted to fit your cell phone. This page takes you to information on the service, but you can also go straight to Google formatted to your phone by clicking http://mobile.google.com/. (www.google.com)

2. Yahoo! Mobile - Offers its Yahoo! oneSearch and Yahoo! Go mobile search applications, depending on what type of wireless phone you are using. Promises to give you answers, not just links to Web sites. If you’re on your mobile phone right now, you can get a text message with link to Yahoo! Search sent to you, or you can just go directly to http://m.yahoo.com/start (mobile.yahoo.com)

3. YouTube Mobile - Search and view videos from YouTube’s vast collection here. Does not include all videos posted on YouTube, but instead a subset of the collection. (m.youtube.com)

4. Mosio - Send a text message to Mosio from your cell phone asking any question you want, and their QnAgents and/or other Mosio members in your “Qniverse” will attempt to help you answer them. Need driving directions while on the go, or the name of that new restaurant you’d been wanting to try but forgot the name of? Those are just two of the possibilities. (www.mosio.com)

5. Live Search for Mobile - Search the Web with Live Search or get direct answers to your questions via SMS texting. This page gives you information about Live Search for mobile phones. If you just want to get searching, you can go directly to http://m.live.com/search/. (mobile.search.live.com)

6. Ask Mobile Search - Ask.com search engine formatted to fit your cellular phone, offering Web search, maps/directions, weather, images, business listings and more. (m.ask.com)
