I agree that Rosetta Stone is a good software to learn vocabulary and some phrases, but you will not be able to learn to speak Spanish with it. It does not teach any grammer, or why you say things in a certain way. It is a good supplement, but it does not replace a good Spanish school, or living in a Spanis speaking country.

I agree with some of the comments above. Although Berlitz is a great program, it can also be expensive. The problem with making sure that the teacher is fluent in both languages is very important. Learning online is a much cheaper option, however you must develop a habbit for working on the program so you don't loose motivation. I also like Rocket Spanish.

Hi
Since buying a holiday home in Spain I visit at least 4 times a year. I have been learning spanish online for about 6 months now and I am starting to see steady progress. I am hoping to visit Mexico in the very near future.

There are several newer programs that appear to be very good for learning Spanish. They include programs that use the Pimsleur Method (audio only), programs that are primarily audio, but include some text (transcripts of the audio plus grammar guides). These include Learn Spanish Like Crazy and Rocket Spanish. You can find a large collection of online videos that address learning Spanish at the Learn Spanish Videos site.

A web for learners of Spanish set up by a Spanish school teacher. Features varied resources (videos, exercises, games, links...) and is updated daily.

One of the best methods for learning Spanish is via an online course. It will give you the incentive to really learn this great language.

There are several approaches Bertliz uses for teaching foreign languages. The use of native speakers to teach and tutor individual students is of obvious benefit, but you must insure that the native speaker of your target language is also sufficiently fluent in English to insure that any technical questions you may have are understood and appropriately responded too.
