My son has not been allowed to see his daughter in over 3 years. The mother or the grandfather will not take any of the families calls or tell us how the girl is doing or even where she is. We do not have the money to hire an attorney and the attorneys that I have spoken to tell me that I have no rights as the grandmother unless (mother) wants to allow me some. Oklahoma and their laws are horrible and not for the benefit and wellfare of the child, they are all to protect the mother. What can a person do?????

Here's the situation: I am a 52 year old man who went through a very bad divorce awhile back ago (Starting 1999 and finalized in 2001 or 2002.) Needless to say the courts and my Ex made my life hardly worth living. It took 8 years for me to get back on my feet and things still are not right. A woman who I considered to be my best friend and helped me emotionally to get through some pretty tough times took my trust and crapped on it. We wanted to try and take our relationship to another level to see if we could make it as a couple. She was 39 or 40 at the time and we both agreed we did not want to have anymore children. We both have a child from previous divorces from our respective spouse. The relationship was going great until she informed me that I could stop buying condoms in order to save money. Everything went great for a while and she was getting really comfortable in our relationship. We were empty nester and I was turning 50 and she was turning 40. One day she told me the patch didn't work much to my surprise. for 3 months there was no problems with it at all The funny thing about it I had started to suspect that she was not changing the patch like she should, it was looking pretty worn out. Even when it had been relocated on her body it didn't look good. When i inquired about it I was told not to worry. I had no reason not to trust her on this since she didn't want to have anymore children. We were going to travel together and hopefully grow old together.

I had been waiting for over 7 years for my daughter to come back into my life since she was taken to Atlanta by her Mom which was very far away from me. Her mother knew I did not have the funds or means to stop her or visit my child. My child eventually ended up hating me because somehow she got the notion I did not want her in my life. The pain and heartache I suffered has been unimaginable and the courts always made me feel like I was some type of convict.

Getting back on point with my ex-best friend and her telling me the Patch didn't work. I asked why not ? I had researched the Patch and it was one of the better and safest birth control methods out there. After talking to my doctor about it, it sounded as if you must really go out of your way for it not to work. Example, stop changing it. Other factors that did not relate to my friend was, she wasn't over weight, she was not sick with any type of diease and she was not a first time child bearer. She told me and I quote, "It's a miracle child!" I informed her that a miracle child is when the mother, child or both are fighting for their lives or something happened during birth that is threatening the health of said mother, child or both. To make a long story short my friend informed me that she was going to have the baby and no discussion in the world was going to change her mind. I totally disagreed with this and even tried to talk about adoption but she did not want to hear it.

Needless to say that we no longer share a relationship as a couple and now have a tie that binds us. Now I have a 3 year old daughter and I am 52 and the mother is 43. I am paying what I consider way too much child support for one child while still paying child support for my other daughter from my marriage while she is in college. When my daughter turned 20 in 2008 she came back into my life in December of 2008. She realized that there are 2 sides to every story. She left her mother at age 18 and begin seeing things a little differently. She now realizes that things were not the way she was told and remembered.

Regarding my 3 year old we live almost 200 hundred miles apart and I don't see her as often as I would like to, but I also do not plan on spending my remaining years as a full time father in a family situation and told my friend so when she decided to keep the child. I own up and recognize my 3 year old as my child. I cannot afford to go to visit because the economy is so bad. I have asked many times to file my child on my taxes for years but her mother will not allow it. She saids if I start seeing the child more she will consider it. I am not going through what I went through before during my divorce again. I have never been married to this woman and did not ask or give her permission to have a child by me. basically she tricked me and now i am paying for it. Nothing against the child though because i love her to death. It is not like i have not seen the child over a 3 year period, I just haven't seen her as much as her mother would like. The main reason is I do not want her mother thinking she can wiggle back into my life. Of course I know the courts could careless about how the child got here. I have paid my child support on a regular basis and have not missed a payment. As mentioned I may not see the child everyday and working out visitation times will not do for us because of the distance apart. I do not wish to be a family with her mother but I do claim my child as my family and look forward to her getting older so we can establish our own relationship without her mother intervening. The courts have never given me a fair shot when it comes to the child support laws but they don't mine taking my money. I should be able to claim my daughter on my taxes. Now I will probably have to spend money I don't have to go to court, travel 200 miles and take time off work to try and get this settle. Not to mention the car repairs that i am still paying for and my car is not running that well. I am paying $560 a month in child support and $125 a month for my oldest child in college along with what I send to help her with books, food and misc items.

The mother of my youngest child makes more money than I do. She holds taking me to court over my head in order to threaten me. At 52 I don't care about her threats and I am at an age where I am prepare to quit my job and no one gets anything. When I fall $5,000 in arreages they can come pick me up and lock me away. The State can care for me the remainder of my life by giving me a roof and 3 square meals and paying any and all of my medical expenses all the way ruining the lives of the Child and her mother receiving support.

All I'm asking is to be able to file my child as a exemption sometimes. Alternating years is what I have been asking for from day one. The courts didn't order it and the mother uses it as a bargaining tool. I am at the age where I will not bargain. If I don't quit my job I will continue to pay support and not be a part of this child's life at all. When she gets older her mother can then explain how all this happened.

What do you suggest? I am at the end of my rope!

I am looking for help for my son who is incarcerated. His girlfriend's mother is trying to get guardianship of his children (custody). He has no money to hire an attorney as he is incarcerated. I typed up a Paternity suit, because they were never married and a guardianship for myself. The judge said that if he would agree to a guardianship to whoever got the children it would be better. Otherwise he would have to be transported back and it would take him longer to get out of jail and he would terminate his rights if he were ever not there for court. The grandmother on the other side (the Mother' of the children's mother) filed to take the children away from her when she left the kids there. The grandmother got mad when I complained about her sending my granddaughter to school in flip-flop shoes and a sun-dress in November when in the morning it was thirty-some degrees and the highest the temperature reached was fifty-something. My oldest son went to pick her up from school on Wednesday as was our routine and he had a coat on. My granddaughter is 5 years old. My concern is that she is not being properly taken care of and she is trying to get guardianship. She does not dress her nice and the other grandfather and I both bought school clothes for her and school supplies. She just doesn't keep up with the clothes and dress her appropriately. This may not seem like much to some, but when you are a little girl and the other children don't play with you because you are not dressed nice, it is somthing. We live in Creek County, Oklahoma. If someone can help us please e-mail me. And if this isn't enough, the judge can't stand my family.

My rights as a father are constantly being violated by the state of Oklahoma. My ex-wife has been investigated by the Dept. of Human Resources nine times. After two custody battles I finally got custody two years ago. Unlike my ex-wife I felt that it was neccessary for my daughter to maintain her relationship with her mother even though when my ex-wife had custody she did not do the same. This past summer my ex-wife refused to send my daughter back to me. My ex-wife once again files a bew custody modification motion accusing me with false alligations which I had alreay proven false in the courts. This time unable to afford a lawyer the judge walked all over me. I had custody of my daughter, who is diabetic for two years and she never had to go to a hospital. My daughter has been with her mother for three months and has been admitted into a hospital two times. Neither the judge, Dept. of Human Resources or any other Oklahoma Agency has listen to me about the danger my child is in with her mother. I have tried to find a lawyer in Oklahoma but nobody is willing to work with me. I am not a rich man. I am like every other work idiot who lives from pay-check to pay-check. I will pay whatever the lawyers want as long as I can pay a little at a time. Do you think I have found a lawyer who cares more about people than money no way.

Please add this website to Fathers rights.
Fantastic website for Father's rights and Children's rights.
United Fathers of America enhances parental involvement in the lives of their children, physically and emotionally as well as financially, during and after the breakdown of their parents relationship, by providing education, information and empowerment to responsible mothers and fathers.

Thank you
