I am looking for a job. I always go to craigslist jobs.
I believe klester@wgfashion.biz is a scam. They said they would like to hire me but they could not meet with me in person for the interview. They requested my personal information. Is there something that could be done? They advertise as personal assistant, admin asst. She sales French wedding gowns. They offer $800.00 a week. They say it is a full time position then they say you work 20 hours a week. In the reply she said her name was Karen Lester and her husband wasChris Lester.

To Kimberly: Just got the same email and it is a scam. They were advertising on the SF Craigslist. Any offer of employment without an interview or phone call is a scam. Not much we can do about it. They paid for the ad and it’s impossible to screen out all the crooks.

I sent out my resume for the office/personal assistant(sf bayarea)She responded her, and her husband and twin daughters, and her mother on vacation on a cruise and they can’t call me because of the high winds. Said one of her twins is sick. She had a list of questions. None that pertained to my address, or social security number. Asked if I had ever been convicted, do i smoke or am i disabled. Then they want references. But I’m not going to respond because it looked like a scam. I don’t like them having my resume information. I don’t know if they can do anything with it. I don’t need more problems especially when I down and out and need a job.

    Hi,
I got this email yesterday and thought that shouldn’t background check be enought for prospective employers to check applicants credibitlity?

    email extract:
    Good news!

We’ve decided we’d love for you to come in for an interview. We think you’d be great for the position we have available.

However, our company policy requires us to run credit and background checks for all new employees. This policy is a result of past problems we’ve had with other employees hired through craigslist.

While the background check can be done in person, during the interview, the credit check can be done at your own leisure. We will REQUIRE the verification # of your credit check to schedule you for an interview. You will NOT need to send us any personal information. Simply send us the verification # and we can set a time slot for you to come in.

Click here to obtain the free credit report. All information is completely confidential. Once we confirm the verification number we can schedule your interview.

Feel free to e-mail us with any questions you may have. We are looking to hire as soon as possible, and interviews will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I have not done anything yet. What do you think? Your response is greatly appreciated

Oh wow, I am so glad that I found this information. I applied to the same posting and got the exact same responses that I am seeing here. I am deleting all of her e-mails right now.

  • 14. Eva    December 30th, 2010 at 3:33 am

Got the same one, she even offered to send me a check as a partial payment even when I didn’t start work yet. I almost quit my other job for this. Do not deposit any checks if she requested anyone to do so. This is from craiglist in Los Angeles.

  • 15. Gidget    December 31st, 2010 at 1:52 pm

Guess what, I got the same e-mail this morning! DO NOT FALL FOR IT! This is a scam! I e-mailed her back this morning and advised that we are all on to her and that I would be reporting her and NOT to contact me any further.

I sent my resume to someone with the e mail address tsly@wgfashion.biz for a nanny position. Is this a scam? She’s not really answering my questions and she has never met me but said she wants to hire me for the job and that she will be sending the money first???? Anyone else have this job posting? She sent me a family pic too.

  • 17. Max    January 13th, 2011 at 1:31 pm

    Allison
I responded to a posting in chicago about a nanny position and they emailed me back saying the position is mine and that they will forward my wages in a check ..the email address you listed is similar to what you posted .. They have been emailing me off of tammysly@wgfashion.biz.. It definitely feels like a scam .. What else did they say to you?

  • 18. Mishawna    January 15th, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Hi, I also got the same job as you Allison. They actually sent me a check, I deposited it yesterday. They will send you a check from Victoria Secret. I deposited it but it has no and I am sincerely guessing it will not post. They then sent me a message giving me instructions to take all the money they had sent me out of the bank and send it via money order to some store that does not exist. They said the check had cleared, and it hadn’t. What they want is for you to believe that the fake check will be cashed, use your own money to send them the money order and then keep your money. I sent them a message telling them that the check had not went through and the things they were telling me did not match up. I told them that they were probably a scam and didn’t even have children or need a nanny. I told them that when the check cleared I would contact them. They have not bothered to send a message back. If they were not a scan then they would be calling about all of the money they sent non-stop. Use your good judgment and do not fall for it.
