I would like to relate a horrifying incident that took place at your Lombard, Illinois store this morning - Thursday, July 24 at about 10:30am. I personally witnessed a manager speaking very loudly to a clerk in the Ladies Department. He was criticizing her for having a glass of water at the cash register desk. He loudly explained she was not acting professionally. He went so far as to tell her to check the employee’s manual which prohibits a store clerk from having any liquid at the desk. She very respecfully told him that it was very warm in the store and she needed a drink of water. I think it was he who acted very unprofessionally by speaking in such a loud voice that a customer could hear the conversation. He clearly embarrassed the store clerk. I believe if it is store policy not to have a liquid at the work station he could have quietly taken her aside and explained what store policy was. He did not need to yell at her as he did. I could not believe what I was hearing - it was very disturbing to hear a manager degrade a subordinate in such a way. I would like to hear from you about this situation, I believe the manager should be reprimanded for such bullying tactics.
